Chiesi's three ideas for the headquarters
Milan, Lombardy, Italy - 26 January 2022
The concept of sustainability also involves environmentally and socially responsible construction, not only in terms of the materials used but also for its capacity for flexibility and resilience. An example of this is the new headquarters of Chiesi in Parma, the international pharmaceutical group focused on research for over 85 years and present in 30 countries, which in 2019 obtained B Corp certification (certifying high standards of control in terms of social and environmental performance, transparency and responsibility). The headquarters, opened last June, now houses about 540 people, including the group's top management, "a work that allows us to look to the future in a perspective even more oriented to innovation and internationalisation, while remaining tied to our roots," said Alberto Chiesi, president of the company. It is a 46,300 square metre structure on the outskirts of Parma, opposite the Research Centre inaugurated in 2011, created by redeveloping a disused industrial area without consuming any agricultural land, along B KitometroVerdeParma, the tree-lined corridor that redevelops a stretch along the A1 motorway. The project aims to combine the wellbeing of people and communities with respect for the health of the planet. The aim is to place the enhancement of human resources and relations at the centre of production activities, creating a citadel of enterprise. It is Chiesi's new home that is the subject of the monograph Spazio lavoro architettura, published by Electaarchitettura, which documents its conception and construction based on a project by EFA studio di architettura, focusing on three concepts: "Innovation", "people" and "sustainability".
